Artist Reception-Shawn Farley In-Person
Please join us for a reception for our new artist, Shawn Farley!
Shawn Farley has studied art almost her entire life. She earned her BFA at the University of Nebraska with a double major in Dance and Art (sculpture.) She worked her way through school in galleries, museums, art film houses, and a performing arts center. Farley went on to get her master’s in arts administration from the University of Iowa. When she moved to Massachusetts in 1984, in addition to full-time work in the arts management field, she became more active in artmaking as well and continued her study of the Surrealists, Constructivists, Suprematists, and the Russian Avant-garde. It also involved gathering found objects from parking lots, streets, nature, flea markets, and tag sales and has evolved from assemblage work with little painting to figurative sculptures fully painted. As an older artist, and the freedom to work full-time on her artwork, she feels she has come into her “creative time” and finds age means nothing, just do the work.
